1849 an entire wrapper bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue from plate 86 lettered Q.B. being addressed to Wick and tied by a locally made handstamp of a lozenge of dots in black ink and dated on reverse for OC 15 1849.The postmaster at Invergordon may well have lost or damaged his official "185" numeral handstamp and thus he employed his locally made lozenge of dots handstamp, probably made of wood or cork until a replacement could be issued.
