1842 an entire wrapper addressed to Cromarty bearing a 1d red-brown issue being tied in error by the red-brown Maltese cross of Invergordon, Ross-shire, and bearing on reverse the Invergordon datestamp from the same inkpad for April 19 1842. This is accompanied with a small wrapper addressed to Dingwall bearing a 1d red-brown issue dated for March 15 1842 being tied by the Invergordon Maltese cross correctly applied in black ink. These two covers clearly illustrate that Highland postmasters were very liberal in following instructions from head offfice in Edinburgh. Bov#206
