Two covers showing the "2" postage due handstamp, the first being an 1861 cover from Musselburgh to Edinburgh with the blue "2" handstamp and franked with 1d stars (archive creases), and the second is 1868 envelope addressed to London from Elgin bearing an 1858 1d rose-red plate 96 (fault at right) placed at the bottom left, being tied by the "133" duplex with a further strike in the normal "stamp position" and bearing in manuscript "Above ½ oz" together with a superb strike of the distinctive "2" handstamp of Elgin in black ink.
