1860 an envelope bearing an 1857 1d rose-red issue addressed to Edinburgh, being tied by the type V "Balfour" Scots Local handstamp from the Isle of Shapinsay, Orkney Islands, in black ink and dated on reverse by the parent office of Kirkwall for JA 11 1860. The front of the cover also bears the distinctive "2" charge mark of Kirkwall in black ink. A very rare and most attractive cover. Bov#754
