1856 envelope from Alken, South Carolina, U.S.A. bearing a 3c red and a vertical pair of the 10c green types 2 and 3, neatly tied by an Alken c.d.s. for NOV 27 with red "19"c marking alongside, paying the rate to the Island of Unst within the Shetland Islands routed via Liverpool and Aberdeen with an arrival mark on reverse for DE 26 1856. A rare and most attractive cover.
