1829 an entire wrapper addressed to Edinburgh bearing on reverse a superb strike of the boxed "Lerwick/778-E" Shetland Islands mileage mark in black ink together with an arrival mark for AUG 31 1829. This is the highest "mileage mark" handstamp of the British Isles as the mileage was calculated from Charing Cross in London and the postal rates of the early 19th Century where calculated upon them.
