1905 an illustrated postcard of the "S.S. Lord of the Isles" steamer dated for 21/9/05 with the EVII ½d adhesive being addressed to Ormskirk and only tied by the intaglio mail-bag seal "Greenock & Ardrishaig Pkt" "Crown" using black ink, most probably employed on the "Iona" as no other handstamp was availiable. This is a unique usage of this "Crown" seal that was issued by the Post Office for sealing bags with string and red wax. Bov#857
