c1841 an entire wrapper addressed to Aberdeen bearing an instruction on front by the sender "P Pd" and "8 June put in at Rothiemay" with the postmaster annotating "Paid 1" and also bearing the "Rothiemay / Penny Post" handstamp in black ink. This example is a clear use of the Penny post handstamps being used in a manner of a Scots local namestamp to identify the office of origin after the Penny Post system became obsolete with the introduction of Uniform Penny postage on 10th January 1840.Bov#42
