1844 January 2nd, an entire wrapper bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue addressed to Lerwick from Sandness cancelled by a vertical manuscript mark applied by the local postmaster with the Lerwick Maltese cross applied in black ink on arrival. On reverse is the "Sandness" type I namestamp and the Lerwick arrival datestamp for JA 4 1844. A rare and most attractive cover. Bov#768
