1844 a wrapper bearing an 1841 1d red-brown issue (trimmed at right) addressed to Wemyss Castle, near Kirkaldy, being tied by a complete strike of the pre official period straight-line type I "Burghead" Elginshire, Scots local handstamp together with the Maltese cross of the parent office of Elgin both struck in black ink, and dated on reverse for MR 24 1844. A very rare and most attractive cover from this early period. Bov#741
